Getting screwed over here By: Jamie1217

A:  "We weren't able to contact anyone, neither of us have a cell phone." Er, there are these things called pay phones. "We were fired and now she's claiming we quit instead." She can claim whatever she wants, but the unemployment commission, for instance, would want her to credibly demonstrate that. Have you bothered to file for unemployment benefits? "Our contract says we must give a 30-day notice for quitting or our pay can be taken from us. If fired, we should get it." What does the contract say about that? Sounds like it's worded in a one-sided manner as to her, but you don't say whether it guarantees you pay if you're terminated or what notice she has to provide *you* before terminating. ...

OT: Which is the BEST US state?

A:  I have lived in some beautiful states and each and every one of them has its own special qualities: Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Utah, Oklahoma, Montana. I once vowed that I would never live in Texas but as the song goes, "You may not want Texas but Texas wants you..." For overall quality of life (climate, economy, cost-of-living, education, recreation etc) Texas is it. I think the thing that truly makes Texas stand apart from the other 49 states is the pride that its people take in it - you will never see any state''s flag flown more than the Lone Star. Q:

i may be fired please help--Q

A:  sorry for such a long post just wanted to provide all possible details A wrongful termination means that you were fired for a reason prohibited by law; in other words, that a specific law exists prohibiting the employer from firing you for the reason he did. It does not mean that you were fired unfairly, that you were fired for something you did not do, or that you were fired in violation of company policy. The law does not prohibit employers from teling others that an employee has been fired, or why. With all of this in mind, specifically what do you think the employer has done illegally?...

Q:

Is it legal to fire because of a disability? California

A:  IF you were fired BECAUSE you have a disability, that''s illegal. IF you were fired because of your performance, that''s perfectly legal. We can''t second guess the various agencies that are investigating. Wait and see what they say. IF you were fired BECAUSE you have a disability, that''s illegal. IF you were fired because of your performance, that''s perfectly legal. We can''t second guess the various agencies that are investigating. Wait and see what they say. They may claim performance, but if that were true, it makes no sense why they passed my probation 2 weeks or so before they fired me. John Basically, unless you have verifiable evedence that you were

Landlord trying to evict us--Q

A:  It is possible there "might" be a breach on landlord''s part. Much depend son how you informed landlord of issues and how (if at all) they landlord reacted to this. Do you have documentation of repair requests? Any inspection reports are important as well. However since you seem to have issues with one another I offer another solution. Talk to landlord about releasing your from lease. This allows you to leave on your own without penalty. Be sure ther eis a walk through of home so any damages can be documented together. Be sure to take pictures and video of entire home and the condition you leave it in Maybe it doesn''t seem clear by my post. The lanlord refuses to work with us and literally "hates" us. She was notified by email and she has responded to those...

Q:

Finding The Accurate Powerful attorneys

A:  Not sure what to make of the post title. They were free to decline to negotiate, and you were free to decline to accept their terms if you objected to coming back on a performance plan. I would have also insisted on seeing what this PIP entailed before I bothered to accept their offer. "But why am I given 5 pages of things that are required by me when I proved my innocence." If this is a question, it is one we cannot answer. Given that it's an employment issue and you've posted on an employment board, it would follow that you'd want to talk with local employment law attorneys. Why don't you ask these mysterious "organizations" you've talked with to give you referrals. I hope one of these...

Q:

What should I put on my resume about getting fired?

A:  Never put you were fired on your resume - you don''t list any reason for leaving any job on your resume. If asked about why you left your last job you can use one a few choice phrases that helps the interviewer understand why you left. Some that I''ve used are I found a better opportunity (Translation: I got a job that paid better) My boss and I didn''t quite see eye to eye on key issues (translation: we hated working with each other and he fired my ***) I felt I was becoming stagnated and needed to find something more challenging (translation: I was bored to tears and spent all my time playing solitaire and checking out gawker.com) Everyone has job troubles, it''s whether your firing is part of a pattern or a one time wrong job/wrong place...

Q:

fired for cause after complaining of discrimination

A:  That was WAY too long.  So let me cut to the chase.  Discrimination based on what? I skimmed your post because it is WAY TOO long and contains information we just don't need.  But here is my take:  you had a great boss for a long time who retired, then you got a new boss who wanted things done their way, the two of you clashed.  You claim it's because of your gender and he claims it is because you aren't competent.  Then after several months of butting heads they fired you.  Now you are claiming it is because you are a woman you were fired. Unless you have rock solid proof that he targeted you ONLY because you are a woman and fired you ONLY for that reason you have...

Q:

European patent attorney costs

A:  Well, it depends....  (as does everything in this business). Administratively, yes, it''s more cost-effective to manage the foreign firms directly without using your US firm. However, oftentimes, the rejections from the foreign patent office will mirror nearly exactly the parent''s (US case''s) rejections.  You might not recognize that fact if (i) you''re not intimately familiar with the substance of rejections of the same application around the world or (ii) haven''t spent some time trying to understand the particular language used by various patent offices and how it relates to US patent law.  Most of the world has very similar patent laws/rules, but phrase it differently.  It helps to be fluent in at least one patent...

Q:

If a state suh as Kentucky is an at will state, meaning an employer can fire you for any reason, can a former?

A:  There is a difference between being fired for "no reason" and being fired for the wrong reason. You were fired for the wrong reason. I think you have a case. you have a great lawsuit and need to contact a local attorney! Try the state Labor relations board; you might be entitled without a suit....
