Q:

Filing for an extention on my visa to the USA?

A:  Be very careful about the six months allowed time in the US based on the form I-90. To apply for an extension on your visa can be challenging. It would be best to go back to your home country consulate to apply for a visa rather than waiting on US CIS to approve the request for a visa extension. If you have a valid reason for such request, I mean a reason that is beyond your control then give it a shot; otherwise, your best bet is to catch the next plane home... it will be costly due to the flight cost and so on, but it will be less of a headache... If you''re talking about the visa itself, you''d have to apply for a new visa. if you''re talking about your authorized stay in the US, you''d have to apply for an extension through USCIS....

Q:

How Many Times can one File for a Tax Filing Extension?

A:  You should file ASAP as there is only the one extension fron April 15th to October 15th. After October 15th you are a noncompliant taxpayer, if you have a refund it''s not much of a problem but if you have a balance due you will be assessed non filing penalties, late filing penalties and interest on any balance owed. Unfortunately No, years ago the extension was for only 4 months and if you could not make it, you could file for an additional 2 months. Now, the 4868 gives you the entire 6 months up front. If there is no tax due, then there''s no issue. You do not get penalized for not filing on time. If there is a tax liability, then the penalty and interest accrues as of 4/15. If getting back a refund, file within the 3 year period to ensure you receive the refund. Hope this helps,...

Q:

I am on unemployment and my employer filed for an appeal. Will i still receive my weekly check?

A:  You aren''t getting anything until the appeal is settled, although most of the time the EMPLOYEE files for an appeal after the EMPLOYER denies it. If you win then you will get back pay(so in a way you still get your checks if you win) but you aren''t going to get them until it is over, just in case you lose. you won''t get your check until the appeal is resolved. i appealed my unemployment in january and my hearing was last thursday, it took 7 months, i haven''t had any checks since january. It depends on how you lost your job. They are saying you don''t deserve unemployment....

Q:

I had an accident on a university''s grounds but I am not a student there? Legal advice.?

A:  you gota luv ''kapn'', always directly to the point....... you can contact the school and see if they will pay the medical expenses but don''t expect it and you would have no real claim to force them to if it came to that. contact the hospital and set up a payment plan........ then get medical insurance...... since you are a student you may still be covered on your parents insurance (just a thought) You can ask, but the answer will be no. Shoes were invented for a reason. If you chose to not wear them, then you assume any risk that comes with this decision. What were you doing on their premisses at 11pm with bare feet? Did you have anyone document it happening at the time? If you have no proof this happened there or that it was the fault of their neglegence then you have no recourse. You...

Q:

I have been seperated from my wife for to years and filed for divorce three times. we both agree to the divoce?

A:  You can try, but many of those motions won''t even get looked at for a few months, so it really won''t save you a lot of time. Look for a paralegal or pro bono lawyer, or legal document preparation service. call an attorney.......

Q:

Is it illegal for an attorney to contact me?

A:  Not necessarily: They prlbably want to make you an offer: Get back in touch with them and see what they have to say. Better than going to court if they offer something satisfactory: Anything is better than court. Actually, if you have an attorney, all communication should go through your attorney. If you have an attorney have them return the call. But they may want to settle this out of court, so go ahead, it may be to your benefit. You don''t have to accept any offers, but it doesn''t hurt to listen. You may want to record the call. They can try to do anything and it''s not necessarily illegal. However, if you have an attoney handling your case, politely refer them to that

Q:

Is it better to file for Chapter 7 or a loan modification when there are debts including a car payment with a ridiculous 14% interest rate o

A:  I would go for the modification 1st, if successful then you will have a chance to re-establish you credit rating but if you file bankruptcy it will stay with you for many, many years. I am assuming you are referring to a loan mod on the vehicle. If you have had your credit damaged after you bought the vehicle you will have a higher interest rate than 14% as well as difficulty even getting a loan mod. Your best bet is to file a Chapter 7, and assume a new loan. Just some information to consider. Filing chapter 7 would discharge you of the debt on the auto loan, however you would have to return the vehicle back to the finance company. You would be able to get financed through most dealerships on a different vehicle, however most of them will give you an interest...
